David E. Hillard, 62 of New Holland, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 23, 2025. He was the loving husband of Lorrie G. (Connor) Hillard for 34 years.
Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Anita F. (Glass) Boley of New Holland, and the late David L. Hillard. He was the stepson of Nancy (Hurst) Hillard of New Holland.
Dave had been employed as a quality control manager at Boger Concrete and was a charter member of Sons of the American Legion.
Dave was the family navigator, whether it be a vacation destination or a weekend road trip. He always got us there, never taking the same route back (that was boring) and possibly going out of the way to see one of his concrete jobs. He brought the party any place he went, earning himself the name Hurricane Hillard. You knew when Dave arrived. He adored his granddaughter, Camie, from teaching her how to ride bike during quarantine to getting their ears pierced together last November.
Most weekends you could find him in the back yard or on the patio enjoying the day-tending to the yard, pool, washing cars or listening to a Penn State or Eagles game. He always had a Rolling Rock to offer you along with some words of wisdom.
In addition to his wife and mother and stepmother, he is survived by two children: Natalie L. married to John Francis, Ephrata and David J. C. Hillard, fiancé of Kylie Luter, Ephrata, a granddaughter Camie E. Francis, a sister Donna married to Scott Mathiot, Lampeter, and a nephew Chris Mathiot married to Maggie Weeks, Lancaster.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Rev. Bruce Hill officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. If desired, a memorial contribution in Dave’s memory may be made to the Four Diamonds Foundation or a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences and memories may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
