David K. Martin

David K. Martin, 97, of 340 Reading Road, East Earl, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home after a brief illness.

Born in West Earl Twp., he was the son of the late David M. and Lavina H. (Kurtz) Martin. He was married 67 years on March 8 to Lena N. (Zimmerman) Martin. His first wife, Leah H. (Zimmerman) Martin, died March 5, 1942.

David was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, and a farmer, retiring in 1973.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Emma Z. Burkholder of Ionia, IA, Esther, married to John H. Zimmerman of Millmont, Vera, married to Alvin Z. Zimmerman of Martinsburg, and Alma, married to Elam H. Hurst of East Earl; five sons, Aaron, married to Anna B. (Weaver) Martin of Martinsburg, Ammon, married to Ella M. (Zimmerman) Martin of Martinsburg, Elam, married to Mabel M. (Sensenig) Martin of New Holland, Lloyd, married to Annetta H. (Sauder) Martin of Ionia, IA, and David, married to Marlene M. (Sauder) Martin, of Roaring Spring; a son-in-law, John R., married to Mary Ella (Zimmerman) Martin, of Stanley, WI; 88 grandchildren; 315 great grandchildren; and 24 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is a daughter, Nora Z. Martin; an infant son, Ivan Z. Martin; a son-in-law, Willis N. Burkholder; four grandchildren; a great granddaughter; two sisters, Annie Nolt and Maria Zimmerman; and a brother, Noah K. Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16 at 9 am at the late home with further services at 9:30 am at Weaverland Old Order Mennonite Church with the Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
