David M. Martin

David M. Martin, 56, of 548 Overlys Grove Road, New Holland, went to meet his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 after a struggle with brain tumors since 2003.

Born on January 6, 1959, in Denver, he was the son of the late Eli and Ada (Martin) Martin. He was married 34 years on March 19 to Emma Sue (Oberholtzer) Martin.

David was a farmer, an avid gardener, and a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 8 children, Phillip Lamar of Lewisburg, Peter Lavern at home, David Allen of New Holland, Sarah Elaine at home, Eli Wayne of New Holland, Emily Ruth, Dwight Anthony, and Andrew James all at home; 8 brothers, Allen and Anna Martin of Mifflinburg, Edwin and Sarah Martin of Shippensburg, Lewis Martin of Denver, James and Lydia Martin, Aaron and Eva Martin, Elvin and Pauline Martin all of New York, Stephen and Mary Martin of Denver, and Michael and Mary Ann Martin of Iowa; 6 sisters, Mabel and Martin Hurst of Iowa, Esther and Luke Weaver, Anna and Sam Shirk both of Fleetwood, Ada and Noah Martin of New York, Marion and Phares Hurst of Narvon, and Grace Martin of Morgantown.

Preceding him in death is an infant daughter, Laura Martin; and a brother, John Ivan Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 18 at 8:30 am at the late home with further services at 9 am at the New Holland Mennonite Church with the Bishop Titus H. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
