David A. Smoker

David A. Smoker, 86, of New Holland, died Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital. His wife of 52 years, Rachel S. (Martin) Smoker, survives.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Amos and Anna Margaret (Lively) Smoker.

He served in the Army from 1961 to 1963.

David was a sewing machine mechanic, working at both the former SLC Corp. and the former New Holland Lingerie companies. He enjoyed tending his property, especially growing and grafting fruit trees and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Margie A. (David) Nickle, Cathy A. (Korey) Umble, Stacy Lynn (David) Richardson, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a brother James Smoker.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Umble and a stepsister, Sandy DeHaven.
