David Lawrence Willick

David went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2024, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania after a brief illness. Born in Chippawa (Niagara Falls) Ontario, Canada, in 1933, he was the son of Arthur and Vera (Miller) Willick. David was predeceased by his beloved older siblings Donald, Betty, Bernice, Phyllis, Albert and Carol.

A graduate of Stamford Collegiate in Niagara Falls, in 1951, David then attended Niagara Christian College, in Fort Erie, Ontario, before beginning his career in finance. It was here he met the love of his life, Donna Merle Hunter, in 1951. They dated while Donna finished nursing school and were married in 1958, in Niagara Falls.

He will be greatly missed by his four children: Lori Terjanian, (David) of West Chester, PA; Mark Willick of Leominster, MA; Jeffrey Willick, (Robin) of Huntsville, Ontario; and Lisa Rivers, (Michael) of Peterborough, NH. He particularly cherished his role as grandfather to Sarah, Kate, Alex, Peter, Ben, Aaron, Josh, Emma, Annie, and Christopher, and great grandchildren Judah, Isla, Ren, and Elizabeth. They admired and loved their grandfather dearly and treasured the time spent with him.

David began his career working at the Royal Bank of Canada. He relocated his family to Central Massachusetts in 1967, where he was the plant controller for the American Can Company, in Fitchburg. After retiring from American Can in 1991, he worked for his friend Tom at Broomfield Labs in Bolton, MA. David fully retired in 1998, and he and Donna split their time between Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario and Sarasota, Florida. In 2017, they moved to Garden Spot Village where they made many new friends and enjoyed worshipping at the Garden Spot Village Chapel.

Classic cars, fly fishing, canoeing, painting, and hiking, were some of David’s favorite interests. Throughout his life, and wherever he lived, he was an active member in his local community and in leadership in churches he attended. He served with Christian Service Brigade, and on several boards including Workers Credit Union in Lunenburg, MA and New England Frontier Camp in Lovell, ME. He also volunteered with chaplain services at the Concord State Prison.

David was ever gracious, with a quiet, humble confidence and a sense of adventure. He will always be remembered for his faith and love for Jesus Christ, his genuine interest in others, and the way he shared Christ’s love with compassion and kindness.

His Celebration of Life service will be held in the Garden Spot Village Chapel located at 433 S Kinzer Ave, New Holland, PA 17557, on January 20, 2024, with visitation at 10:00 am and the service at 11:00 am.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to three organizations that David supported throughout his life: The Nicaragua Missions Fund at the Chippawa Presbyterian Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; New England Frontier Camp in Lovell, Maine; and Deerfoot Lodge in Speculator, NY.
