David Samuel Young

David Samuel Young, born on November 3, 1944, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 19, 2026, at Zerbe Retirement Community, where he was lovingly cared for by Caring Hospice. A man of profound faith and dedication, David leaves behind a legacy marked by his unwavering commitment to the spiritual renewal and growth of his community.

David was a distinguished graduate of South Western High School in Hanover, PA. He pursued higher education with great diligence, graduating magna cum laude from Elizabethtown College. His passion for ministry and church renewal led him to earn a Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethany Theological Seminary, specializing in church renewal, a testament to his lifelong commitment to fostering vibrant and thriving congregations.

As an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren, David devoted his life to serving others through his ministry. He was the founder of the Springs of Living Water revitalization initiative, a transformative program designed to breathe new life into congregations seeking renewal. His leadership extended beyond the pulpit, as he hosted numerous seminars focused on discipleship, guiding countless individuals in their spiritual journeys. David also served as an interim pastor at several churches, providing steady and compassionate guidance during times of transition. Additionally, he contributed his wisdom and expertise as a member of the Board of Directors for Lighthouse Ministries.

David’s family was central to his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Elizabeth (Reznar) Young, whose partnership and support were integral to his work and personal joy. He is also survived by his sons, Jonathan and Andrew Young.  He is also survived by a nephew, Christopher Young.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Young and Martha Wolf Young, whose memory he honored throughout his life.

David Samuel Young’s life was a beacon of hope and renewal, touching countless lives through his ministry, leadership, and love. His steadfast faith and tireless work have left an indelible mark on the communities he served. He will be remembered with deep respect and admiration by all who knew him.
