Diane K. Brackin, 80, of Smyrna, DE, formerly of New Holland, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Jill Ipnar, in Smyrna.


Born in Vineland, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Schwartz) Keen. Her husband, J. Lewis Brackin, died April 2, 2005.


Diane last worked as a secretary at Ford New Holland from 1977 until her retirement in 1991.


Diane loved being with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time at the shore at her sister's house in Stone Harbor, NJ. She was a member of the St. Stephen Reformed Church in New Holland and volunteered to teach English as a second language through her work. She was a founding member of a Bridge Club in New Holland that played monthly for over 39 years.


Surviving are four children, Kurt, married to Kathleen (Beatty) Brackin of Leola, Jill Ipnar, married to Debra Bialecki of Smyrna, DE, Cynthia Brackin of Hummelstown, and John Brackin of New Holland; five grandchildren, J Kristofer, Jessica, Jana, Peter, and Molly; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Paladino of Utica, NY.


Preceding her in death is a brother, Melvin Keen; and a sister, Elaine Castellini.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 11 am at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, PA with the Reverend Vic Schiffler officiating. Interment will be in the St. Stephen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O.
