Diane L. (Wright) Duell, 63, of Blue Ball, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in her home in the company of loved ones.
She was the loving daughter of J. Carl “Cork” Wright of Blue Ball and the late Shirley Ann (Weaver) Wright. Adoring mother to Ashley Corbi married to Vincent Corbi II, and Nate Duell married to Becky Moyer. Proud mom-mom to three beautiful grandchildren: Blake, Callum, and Vincent III, and pain in the ass sister to Sandra K. Halpin and Steven G. Wright.
Diane was born in Lancaster on November 19, 1962, and lived in Blue Ball until her passing. Growing up, her and her siblings enjoyed trips to their family cabin. She attended Garden Spot High School, Class of 1980, where she played field hockey and was a member of National Honor Society. She was nominated by her peers for the homecoming court and was known for her big smile and upbeat personality.
Upon graduation, she attended Millersville University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology, specializing in Respiratory Therapy. She then began her 41-year career at Penn State Hershey Medical Center where she was adored as a healthcare provider, a co-worker, and a friend to so many that crossed her path.
To know Diane was to love Diane. She had the uncanny ability to make friends anywhere she went and made everyone around her feel special. She was always planning new adventures and was an avid traveler, raving about her trips to Ireland, the Caribbean, Paris, Amsterdam, Hawaii, and Alaska. She certainly knew how to live life to the fullest, packing her years with concerts, beer fests, family vacations, Penn State football games, and girls' weekends with her best friends. She will be remembered to many as having an effortless ability to create fun in any situation.
Above all, she cherished her family. Her commitment to making memories at each holiday, birthday, or just a weeknight at home was unwavering. Her love for games - traditional and of her own creation - tied her family together at gatherings. The joy she brought to all who knew her will be her legacy.
Our beautiful daughter, mother, mom-mom, sister, aunt, and friend will be immensely missed, but we will all continue to live the way she taught us, embracing life with open hearts. We love you dearly, forever and ever.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother Douglas Wright and nephew Tyler Wright. She was a member of St. John Center United Church of Christ and remained grounded in her faith throughout her battle with cancer.
Diane was insistent that this time should be for celebration, not sadness or mourning! Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at American Legion - Post 662, 35 South Hoover Avenue, New Holland, PA 17557, on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, from 1 PM to 5 PM, for a time to share fond memories and reflect on the amazing woman Diane was.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Diane’s memory to the Four Diamonds Foundation or Penn State’s THON benefitting childhood cancer research. P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033.
