Dolores A. Leitgeb, 89, of New Holland, was taken home by her Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 13, 2023. She passed at the Laurel Center in Hamburg, PA.
Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rudy whom she was married to for 59 years. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Charles H and Florence (Biery) Long. Dolores graduated from Bethlehem High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, she worked as a dental assistant and later she was employed at General Electric in Allentown. She and Rudy were married in 1958 and settled in Upper Macungie Township. She focused her time and energy on being a homemaker and raising her sons, Keith and Brian. Dolores enjoyed making crafts and played in several women’s card clubs. In 1986, the couple relocated to Asheboro, NC because of Rudy’s job transfer. In 2001, they returned to Pennsylvania to retire in New Holland. In both Asheboro, NC and in New Holland, Dolores was active in church, serving on Sunday mornings and attending Bible studies along with her continued love of craft making and gardening. She and Rudy attended Glad Tidings Church in Reading for many years; she attended Petra Church in New Holland for the past five years.
Survivors: Dolores is survived by two sons, Keith (Cheryl) of Palatine, IL and Brian (Michele) of New Ringgold, PA; three grandchildren – LeighAnn (Andrew) Mount of Frisco, TX, Todd (Alexa) Leitgeb of Chicago, IL and Josh Leitgeb of New Ringgold, PA; five great grandchildren – George, Bennett and Charles Mount and Renley and Micah Leitgeb. Siblings Evelyn Shimer, Janice Franssen, Richard Long and Larry Long.
Services: A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 20th at 2:00 pm at Beck Funeral Home, 315 East Main St., New Holland, PA with Pastor Wayne West officiating. Visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment in Petra Memorial Park, New Holland, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Petra Church, 565 Airport Rd, New Holland, PA 17557 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
