Donald R. Finney

Donald R. Finney, 94, of New Holland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on February 13, 2025. Donald was born in Lawrenceville, IL, to his late parents, George R., and Mura M. (Smith) Finney. He and his beloved spouse, Hettie H. (Stauffer) Finney, recently celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Donald was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Seabee during the Korean Conflict. Donald was a man of many talents, serving for many years as a supervisor in the lumber industry. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in New Holland and the Howell Lodge, #405, F.A.M., Honey Brook. He and Hettie enjoyed traveling to every state in the United States, several Canadian Provinces, and European Countries. They especially enjoyed their yearly trips to Texas.

In addition to his spouse, Donald is survived by his children, Bret R. Finney, and his wife Anita, of Stevens, and Gregg E. Finney, of New Providence. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Kayla Finney of St. Petersburg, FL.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his first wife, Annabelle L. Finney, in April of 1985.

A Funeral Service will be held at Ranck’s United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with Pastor Doug Bozung, of Christian Fellowship Church officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery.
