Donald J. Herrington, 83, of New Holland, passed away on January 28, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. Donald was born in Lancaster to his late parents, John Herrington and Margaret (McDonnell) Poysher. His beloved wife of 62 years, Kitty M. (Fisher) Herrington, survives at home.
Donald was a devoted family man that led a life devoted to service. After graduation from college, he worked for 33 years at the former Blue Ball National Bank as the director of marketing. During that time, he served the New Holland community in many ways. He served with the Jaycee’s, holding the office of State President from 1975-1976, on the New Holland Boro Council and as Mayor of New Holland. He also coached various sports teams in the New Holland community and served as the Garden Spot High School Varsity Basketball coach.
In addition to his beloved wife, Donald is survived by his children, Michael Herrington and his wife Carole, of New Holland and Matthew Herrington and his wife Betsy, of York. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Bonnie, wife of Bart Shellenhamer, and a brother, Dennis Herrington.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 East Main Street, New Holland, PA, with Rev. Dr. Charles Oberkehr officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral service at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA.
