Donald L. Hoover

Donald L. Hoover, 85, of New Holland, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Coatesville VA Hospice Center after a brief illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jacob S., Sr. and Mildred (Posten) Hoover. His wife, Verna L. (McKillips) Hoover, died June 18, 2011.

Donald worked as the Parts Manager at the former Sandoe Auto Parts in New Holland. Prior to that he worked as a mechanic at the former Sensenigs Chrysler/Plymouth Dealership in New Holland.

He was a member of the New Holland United Methodist Church, the New Holland V.F.W. Post 7362, and the New Holland American Legion Post 662. He also enjoyed hunting.

He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving is a daughter, Donna, married to Frank Sandoe of New Holland; a son, Roger L. Hoover of Mountville; a grandson, Steve, married to Angela Sandoe; a great granddaughter, Lexi; two sisters, Helen G., married to Raymond Workman of Strasburg, and Mildred E., married to George Overly of Millersville; a brother, Richard E., married to Pat Hoover of Christiana; and a sister-in-law, Mary Hoover of Christiana.

Preceding him in death is a sister, Edith Heider; and three brothers, William J., Jacob, Jr., and Robert Hoover.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31 at 2 PM at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Ray Voran officiating. Interment will be in the Zeltenreich Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 1-2 PM.
