Donald M. Wise, 79, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, formerly of Downingtown, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital after a long battle with liver cancer. His wife of 53 years, Audrey (Hopkins) Wise, survives.
Born in Philadelphia, Donald was a son of the late Harry F. and Helen (Geiger) Wise.
Donald worked for PennDOT for over 25 years as a Construction Cost Specialist.
He was active in the Folcroft Union Church as Sunday School Superintendent and also served as chief ranger in the Christian Service Brigade for many years. He will long be remembered for his faithfulness and diligence in working with the youth.
Donald graduated from Pennsylvania Military Preparatory School and West Chester State Teachers College.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: a daughter, Victoria Warren, wife of Randall, of Downingtown, and a son, Christopher Wise, husband of Jodi, of Reading; 7 grandchildren: Mitchell Warren, Austin Warren, Brenna Warren Hilary Wise, Jordyn Wise, Nicholas Stern, and Jordan Stern; and many friends and loved ones.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Wise.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 12th, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 443 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with Pastor Chester Yoder officiating. Kindly omit flowers.
