Dora Elizabeth Tshudy

Dora Elizabeth “Betty” Tshudy, 87, of 220 Locust St., New Holland, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mt. Joy after a brief illness. Born in Churchtown, she was the daughter of the late S. Raymond and Anna M. (Horning) Shirk. Her husband, Robert O. Tshudy, died Oct. 24, 2011. Betty and Bob celebrated 64 years of marriage on July 4, 2011. Betty was a homemaker most of her life but worked during WWII for A&R Sensenig in New Holland and later as a Floor Supervisor at Dutch Maid in New Holland. Later during the 1960’s and 70’s she was a Fabric Inspector at the former Frank Ix Silk Mill in New Holland. She was a member of the Bridgeville E.C. Church and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, collecting glassware and dolls, and planning her high school reunions. She also enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving is a daughter, Susan, married to Robert Gabriel of Brickerville; two sons, Ron Tshudy, and his partner, Kerstine Hiam of East Earl, and Jeff, married to Cindy (McCamant) Tshudy of Ephrata; three grandchildren, Kelly and Kevin Tshudy of Ephrata, and Everett Johnson of Leola; two great grandchildren, Conner Rupert and Kaydn Tshudy; a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Maser) Tshudy of Leola; three brothers, Elam, Leon, and Harold Shirk; and a sister, Anna Mae, married to Allen Wenrich. Preceding her in death is a son, Bob Tshudy, Jr.; two brothers, Earl and Eugene Shirk; and two sisters, Arlene Rathman, and Barbara Beam. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 2 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St, New Holland, with Keith Mong officiating. Interment will be in the Bridgeville Cemetery.
