Doris J. Zimmerman

Doris J. Zimmerman, 60, of 607 Dwight Rd., Denver, died Saturday, March 14, 2020 at

Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital surrounded by her family. Her husband of 39 years,

Lewis H. Zimmerman, survives.

Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late David S. and V. Mildred (Sensenig) Musser.

Doris poured love and joy into everything and everyone around her, passing on a sense of

strength to many and generously serving the community with her time and talents. Doris was a

bus driver for Hinkletown Mennonite School for 23 years, she helped organize and serve meals

for school lunch and events, and brought the meaning of “home” to life for her family. She was

also a member of Park View Mennonite Church.

Family, friends, church members, and students will forever remember her as a woman who

sacrificed and cared for others. Her door was always open, with welcoming arms ready to host.

Although the news of her ALS diagnosis came with a devastating blow, Doris glowed with

resilient joy. Up through her final days, she could be found with a bright smile. With prayers

and song from family surrounding her, the words to her favorite hymn ushered her home: “Just

as I am … Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come! ”

In addition to her husband Doris is survived by seven children: Justin R. married to Rachel A.
