Dorothy Mae Styer

Dorothy Mae Flickinger Styer, 86, of Narvon, formerly of Terre Hill, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late William and Orlean (Myers) Flickinger. Her husband, Fred E. Styer, died March 27, 2015.

Dorothy worked as a cook for many years at the Terre Hill Restaurant. Later she worked as a seamstress.

She was a member of the St. John’s Center United Church of Christ.

She took pride in her family and enjoyed cooking, along with flower and vegetable gardening.

Surviving are five children: Linette Metzger, wife of David, of East Earl, Michael Styer, husband of Pat, of Murrietta, CA, Sharon Yelk, wife of Bill, of Gordonville, Jane Styer-Acevedo, wife of Julio, of Upper Darby, and Jean Kostelansky, wife of David, of Chicago, IL; 7 grandchildren: Heather Martin, wife of Nik, Heidi Sadowski, wife of Kevin, Dana Styer, Westleigh Styer, Eric Yelk, husband of Amie, Miguel Acevedo, and David Kostelansky; and 5 great-grandchildren: Thea and Walker Martin and Tristin, Skye, and Scarlett Sadowski; and a sister, Leona Pavlakis of Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015 at 2:30 PM at St. John’s U.C.C., 432 Reading Road, East Earl PA 17519, with the Reverend Tim Heritage and the Reverend Brad Haws officiating. Interment will be in Center Union Cemetery, East Earl. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday from Sunday from 1 – 2:30 PM.
