Dorothy Elinor Szucs, 88, of New Holland, formerly of Broomall, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Garden Spot Village. She was the loving wife of Alexander Szucs, with whom she shared almost 61 years of marriage.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1927, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Janet (Morgan) Samuels. When she was a young child she moved with her parents to Toronto Canada. After graduating from high school in Toronto she attended Bob Jones University where she met her husband Alex and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Dorothy and Alex were married in January 1955 at the Peoples Church in Toronto. They settled in Broomall, PA where their sons Richard and David were born. Dorothy was an administrative assistant for over 30 years. First for the Director of The Christian Medical Society and later for the Director of Development at Eastern University. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and collecting books.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by two sons: Dr. Richard A. Szucs and his wife Ruth, of Richmond, VA, and A. David Szucs and his wife Rhonda, of Garden Grove, CA; a sister, Mildred Macleod, and her husband John, of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; and 4 grandchildren, Alexandra, Vera, Mathew and Rachel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and Ian Samuels.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA 17557 with Dr. Michael Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park in Broomall, PA. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 9:30 to 10:00 AM prior to the service.
