Douglas M. Donahue, Sr., 97 of New Holland, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Maple Farm in Akron, PA.

Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Mildred (Hinman) Donahue. His wife, Alva (Fahm) Donahue, died July 21, 2000.

Douglas retired as a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves having flown as a Bombardier in B-17's and B-29's during WWII. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was active in their Senior Citizens group. He was a founding member of the Garden Spot AARP Chapter and a member the Ephrata American Legion Cloister Chapter. He served on the board of directors of the New Holland Summer Arts Program.

He is survived by three children: Patricia D. married to David K. Stone, Douglas M., Jr. married to Bonita (Eaton) and Margaret D. married to Ronald Marina; seven grandchildren: Kellee, Michael, Jonathan, Andrew, Timothy, David and Elyse: six great grandchildren: Elinore, Kyle, Mia, Althea, Hudson and Hunter; and a sister, Elayne Hendrickson.

Preceding him in death is a brother, Howard Donahue.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the New Holland Summer Arts Program (SAP), P. O. Box 532, New Holland, PA 17557-0532.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 South Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Private interment with Military Honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. To send the family online condolences visit us at www.beckfuneral.com.
