Dr. William C. Witwer

Dr. William C. Witwer, 86, of Birdsboro, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Bowmansville, he was the son of the late John and Alice (Brendle) Witwer. Alice H. (McNeal) Witwer, his wife of 46 years, died Dec. 5, 1992.

William was an optometrist for 35 years in Morgantown.

He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Downingtown and also a member of the Lions Club and a former Mason. He was also a world traveler and an avid Phillies fan.

During WWII he served with the US Navy in the South Pacific.

Surviving is a daughter, Kitty K. Witwer of Birdsboro; a son, Dr. Jeffrey N. Witwer of Camden, SC; a sister, Jean Reisinger of East Earl; a brother, Charles Witwer of Shillington; and a friend, Anita Routzahn of Downingtown.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 11 am at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill with the Reverend Jonathan Yoder officiating. Interment will be in the Caernarvon Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Saturday from 10–11 am at the Funeral Home.
