Mr. Earl Wayne Denlinger of Garden Spot Village in New Holland, PA entered the presence of his Savior on September 28, 2023.
Wayne Denlinger (February 5, 1940 – September 28, 2023) is preceded in death by his parents Earl Jason Denlinger (March 17, 1908 - December 22, 1974) and Elva Amelia Schroeder Denlinger (December 23, 1912 – June 3, 1986) and his sister Shirley Joan Denlinger Ivins (July 15, 1935 - August 10, 2017). Born and raised in Haddon Heights, NJ, Wayne graduated from Haddon Heights High School in 1958 and was employed by various businesses (Magnaflux, Vertol Boeing, E.L. Conwell, Phoenix Steele, Alicia, and PSE&G Salem) until his retirement in September, 2005.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Loretta May Tice Denlinger, his children Jeff (Christine), Debbie Willis (Steve), and Patti Vanaman (Bryan) with nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren with two more on the way. The stories and memories shared among his family are ones of epic fishing experiences, vacations down the Jersey shore, the Outer Banks and Kiawah Island, and discussions and reflections on God’s Word and church ministries.
Wayne Denlinger was active in the life of his family, his church communities, and as a volunteer fireman in Barrington, NJ as well as a volunteer Bible study leader at the Salem County Correctional Facility in Salem, NJ. He served as a Deacon and in various capacities in the ministries of Cherry Hill Baptist Church (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Pittsgrove Baptist Church (Elmer, NJ). Of particular joy to him were the volunteer opportunities to distribute New Testaments with the Gideons in schools, hotels, and on college campuses. Most recently over the course of his medical treatments, he distributed 99 New Testaments to other cancer patients and hospital staff. He prayed for them by name that they would know the certainty of faith in Jesus Christ.
Always ready to give a word of witness of his Savior’s grace and to offer a pocket New Testament, Wayne desired that others would discover what he knew firsthand: by simple faith in the saving sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for our sin and of his resurrection from the dead, we can experience the forgiveness of sin and receive from God eternal life in Jesus Christ. Because of this, when he was greeted with a “How are you?”, his reply was always, "I am blessed!" The most important thing that can be said of Wayne Denlinger is found in his own testimony of faith: “I have indeed been born again through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.” We grieve the loss of his presence in our lives yet we know he’s home now.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held in the chapel at Garden Spot Village in New Holland, PA, on October 25th, at 10:30 am with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gideons International or Garden Spot Village benevolent fund. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
