Eddy P. “Red” Kreider, 82, of 642 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland died Monday, June 25, 2012 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther M. Kreider in 1988.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Mary Fischer and was adopted when he was two-weeks old by Reuben and Elva Kreider.
During the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the Army Truck Division.
Eddy retired from Ford New Holland in 1992 after 42 years as a welder and then worked part-time for Keller Bros., Ford, Lititz.
He attended Ranck’s United Methodist Church, and the VFW Post 7362, New Holland.
An avid motorcyclist since the age of 17, he raced motorcycles in his younger years and was a member of the American Motorcyclist Association.
Surviving are two children: Charlene married to Kevin Stauffer, Stevens, and James Kreider, New Holland; three grandchildren; a great grandson; and three siblings: C. Theron Kreider, Gerald Kreider and Audrey Warren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Kreider.
His funeral will be held on Friday, June 29 at 10 AM at Ranck’s United Methodist Church, 700 Ranck Rd., New Holland with Pastor Kevin Readman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland and on Friday from 9 to 10 AM at the church. Online condolences may be posted on our website, www.groffeckenroth.com.
