Edgar Ernest Bumbier

Edgar Ernest Bumbier, 92, of New Holland, passed away on March 11, 2017 at Garden Spot Village. He was the loving husband of Eleanor A. (Aldin) Bumbier, who preceded him in death in 2010.

Born in Telford, PA, he was the son of the late Ernest and Emily (Gludin) Bumbier.

Edgar proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. During the War, he served in the Pacific Theater at places including Okinawa, the Philippines, Japan and Hawaii. He later earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Penn, a Masters Degree from Drexel University, and worked for 33 years as an analytic chemist for Glaxo-Smith-Kline. Edgar was a member of the Community Church of Garden Spot Village. He had served faithfully for many years at the United Presbyterian Church of Manoa in Havertown as Deacon and Elder.

Edgar, an avid photographer, loved to travel and visit new places. He was proud to own an Airstream trailer and travel across the US. He also traveled abroad and especially enjoyed seeing Latvia, the homeland of his parents. He loved books and enjoyed reading on a wide variety of subjects including American history, famous person biographies and politics.

Edgar is survived by three children: Bruce Bumbier, husband of Beth, of West Chester, David Bumbier of Orlando, FL, and Susan Hammond, wife of Richard, of Orange County, NY; 8 grandchildren: Jessica, Esther, Stephen, Jonathan, Christina, Jennifer, Michele, and Benjamin; and 6 great-grandchildren: Isaac, Oliver, Eleanore, Everett, Stone, and Emmett.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10 AM at Garden Spot Village chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland PA 17557 with Pastor Chet Yoder officiating. Interment will be held privately at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill PA. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM at the GSV chapel prior to services.
