Edith M. Bowman, 95, of 1001 E. Oregon R., Lititz, formerly of Union Grove, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Landis Homes. Her husband, Charles Bowman, preceded her in death in 1978.
Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lizzie (Martin) Arment.
Edith was a homemaker and a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church. She was known for her quilting work, making quilts for M.C.C. Relief Sale and for Mary Nolt. She also encouraged widows and single ladies through a card ministry and with her husband, prepared and delivered fruit baskets to shut-ins at Christmastime.
Surviving are four daughters: Thelma widow of Paul “Pete” Messner, East Earl; Pauline “Polly” married to Pastor Ronald Good, Bowmansville; Vera married to Albert Kunkle, East Earl; and Helen married to Ira Horst, New Holland; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and five half-siblings: Amos Arment, Jay Arment, Leon Arment, Lovina Weiler, and Janet Arment.
She was preceded in death by six siblings: Martin Arment, Anna Zeiset, Barbara Stoltzfus, Isaac Arment, Ralph Arment, and Ida Summers.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd., East Earl. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Landis Homes East Bethany Chapel and on Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. at the church.
