Edith M. Getz

Edith M. “Sis” Getz, 95, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Getz in 1988.

Born in Voganville, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Bertha (Ream) Sweigart.

Edith had attended Lighthouse Assembly of God, New Holland.

A seamstress, she had worked at the Miller-Hess Shoe Co., Akron, and at the former Dutch Maid, New Holland.

She is survived by her son James B. Getz of Narvon, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two sisters, Alice Haas of Tel Hai, Honey Brook and Phyllis Kveragas of Ephrata.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eloise A. Martin and a brother Robert Sweigart.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 12 at 10:30 a .m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Stephen Ritchey officiating. Interment will be in Voganville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
