Edith E. Martin

Edith E. Martin, 95, of 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, formerly of East Earl, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata after a brief illness.

Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Catherine (Erb) Sauder. Her husband, Leroy A. Martin, died Feb. 3, 1995.

Edith was a homemaker and a member of Lichty’s Mennonite Church where she served as treasurer of the Sewing Circle for a time. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, and housekeeping.

Surviving are six children, Doris M., married to Joe Ferri of Bradenton, FL, L. Donald, married to Carolyn (Ziemer) Martin of East Earl, Darwin L., married to Fern (Ludwig) Martin of Ephrata, Darrell E., married to Anna Frances (Martin) Martin of Mohnton, Dale L., married to Ginger (Good) Martin of Denver, and Dwight J. Martin of Reamstown; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Weaver of Ephrata.

Preceding her in death are two granddaughters, Lisa Martin and Jaimee Martin; seven brothers and five sisters.

At Edith’s request, a private interment will be at the Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 am at Lichty’s Mennonite Church, 1690 Union Grove Road, East Earl with the Ministers Clair Long, Randy Bowman, Eugene Sauder, and Aaron Horst officiating.
