Edward Abramson

Edward Abramson, 82, of New Holland, formerly of Newark, DE and Landenberg, PA, passed away on July 13th 2015. He was born to Jerome and Evelyn Abramson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.


Ed was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia, Ursinus College, and the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a PhD in Physics.


Ed’s career included 30 years with Dupont, of Wilmington, Delaware. After retiring early from the corporate world, he gave back to the science community through 15 years of work as a college level physics educator, mostly, with the University of Delaware Parallel Program.


Throughout his life Ed held a deep love and appreciation for the performing arts. He was active in the local community theater scene both on and off-stage. He frequently appeared in productions by the Chapel Street Players in Newark Delaware, and the Wilmington Drama League in Wilmington Delaware. He also served on the board of directors for both organizations. Ed was host of “The Beat of Broadway,” a radio show that aired on WMSP in the mid-seventies.


Ed is survived by his wife Nancy, his son and daughter-in-law David and Leah, his two grand-daughters, and a daughter Susan. He is preceded in death by a daughter Ellen.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. In honor of Ed, donations are requested to AseraCare Hospice, 315 Primrose Lane, Ste. 101, Mountville, PA 17554. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
