Edward Vincent Mellinger

Edward Vincent Mellinger, 88, of 140 W. Conestoga St., New Holland, died Tuesday, June 25 at Ephrata Community Hospital. His wife of 56 years, Mary L. (Etter) Mellinger, survives.

Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Edward and Myrtle (Lowry) Mellinger.

He was a truck driver for H. R. Ewell for 29 years, logging one million accident free miles. In later years, he provided transportation to the Amish community.

Edward had showed horses and was a fox hunter in earlier years. He also enjoyed boating on the Northeast River.

During World War II, he served in the Navy as a Motor Machinist’s Mate Third Class.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Kathy married to Pete Moore, Gap; Cheryl married to Scott Sebastian, Narvon; Edward Jr. married to Barbara Mellinger, Palmyra; Lori married to Todd Burkhart, New Holland; and Steven married to Lisa Mellinger, FL; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three siblings: Elmer Mellinger, Helen Grube, and Leah Bair.
