Edwin Z. Horst

Edwin Z. Horst, 87, of East Earl, passed away on July 31, 2024, at his home. He was married for 64 years to Esther Z. (Sensenig) Horst.

Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Barton and Lydia (Zimmerman) Horst.

He was a retired farmer and stone mason and was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving besides his wife are eight children: Mark married to Frances Horst, Penn Yan, NY, daughter-in-law Mary Ella Horst, Penn Yan, NY, Edwin married to Lucille Horst, Penn Yan, NY, Linda married to Paul Nolt, Shippensburg, Virginia married to Erwin Horning, Leola, Aaron married to Magdalena Horst, Stanley, NY, Miriam married to Elvin H. Zimmerman, Plymouth, OH, David married to Pauline Horst, East Earl, John married to Dorcas Horst, East Earl, 56 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren, seven siblings: Melvin married to Naomi Horst, Ida married to Elias Martin, Ella married to Ivan Horning, James married to Ada Horst, Laura married to Ivan Zimmerman, Miriam married to Allen Garman, a sister-in-law Rachel Horst and three brothers-in-law, Allen Fox, Aaron Weaver, Dana Ramer.

He was preceded in death by a son, James S. Horst, an infant daughter, an infant great grandson and six siblings: Amos Z. Horst, Florence Kulp, Sarah Hoover, Vera Fox, Elsie Weaver, and Lydia Ann Ramer.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Marvin Nolt officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held at the home of John and Dorcas Horst, 1445 Turkey Farm Rd., East Earl on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
