Edyth I. Kreider

Mrs. Edyth I. Kreider, 87, formerly of Locust Street, New Holland, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Garden Spot Village, where she had resided since 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband Parke M. Kreider in 1973.

Born in Groffdale, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Sadie (Brubaker) Andrew. She graduated from New Holland High School in 1944. She was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church.

Edyth worked many years for the former Victor F. Weaver Poultry Plant and market, also at Frank Ix Silk Mill and Wrights’ Bakery. She later worked 20 years at New Holland Farmers National Bank, retiring in 1988.

She loved flowers of all kinds and made wall hanging pictures and over 15 scrapbooks.

Surviving are three nieces, Judy Dowlin of Lancaster, and Sue, married to Jeff Anderson of Idledale, CO, and Kathy, married to Dale Good of New Holland, three great nieces and one great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Helen A. Groff and Ruth E. Andrew and her brothers Harold and Mervin L. Andrew.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30 at 3:30 pm at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with Chaplain Marian Harnish officiating. Interment will be in the New Holland Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Garden Spot Village Friday from 3 – 3:30 pm.
