Elaine S. Gehman

Elaine S. Gehman, 92, of Ephrata, entered into Glory on August 20, 2026, at Ephrata Manor. Elaine was born in Fayetteville, PA, to her late parents, George and Alice (Reasner) Stymiest. She was married to the late Raymond Gehman, who passed away on November 2, 2016.

Elaine began her nursing career after graduating from Washington County Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She was a nurse at Ephrata Community Hospital and the former Denver Nursing Home. After retirement, Elaine found immense joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo, flower gardening, and reading. Elaine and Raymond enjoyed numerous winters living as “snow birds” in Sebring, FL. Elaine was a member of Pine Grove Church, Bowmansville.

Elaine is survived by her children, Greg Gehman, of Denver, Sam Gehman and his wife Annette, of Reinholds, and Joel Gehman, of Denver. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Seth Gehman and his wife Marie, Nathan Gehman and his wife Kelly, Hannah Greiner and her husband Micah, and her great grandchildren, Kamila Gehman, Mikayla Gehman, Blake Gehman, Charlotte Gehman, Brooks Gehman, Lilah Gehman, and Penelope Greiner. In addition, Elaine is survived by her brother, Nevin Stymiest and his wife Judy, of Chambersburg, PA.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 28, beginning at 1:00 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery, 1194 Reading Road, Bowmansville, PA, with Pastor Jonathan Yoder officiating. A light lunch will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to the Ephrata Manor Benevolence Fund, c/o United Church of Christ Homes, 30 North 31st Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Elaine’s family wishes to thank the entire EM staff for all their kind and loving care that they gave to mom during her stay there!

Arrangements have been entrusted to C. Stanley Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
