Elam A. Shirk

Elam A. Shirk, 94, passed away on January 5, 2025 as a resident of Garden Spot Village.

Born in Wide Hollow, he was the son of the late Agustus and Mary (Wise) Shirk.

He was the husband of Betty A. (McCarty) Shirk, with whom he married on March 22, 1952 and shared 72 years of marriage.

He had proudly served in the United States Army as a Corporal in the Korean War. He was a member of Salem Bible Church and served as a deacon in previous years. He was a member of Martindale Fire Company and was employed by Daniel Leroy Burkholder Excavating for over 40 years prior to retirement.

Elam is survived by his wife, Betty, his children, Greg Shirk husband of Diane, Jeff Shirk husband of Julie, Beth Buzzard wife of Kevin and Karen Weber wife of Keith, grandchildren, Cody, Corey, Jordan, Seth, Andrew and Melanie, two great grandchildren and sisters, Nancy Eidemiller and Janet Becker wife Bill.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Edgar Eidemiller.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E Main Street, New Holland PA 17557 with Mark Hickson officiating. A Viewing will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment with military honors in Voganville Cemetery.
