Elam H. Shirk, 85, of 1292 Martin St., East Earl, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Hospice & Community Care. His wife of 67 years, Mary E. (Hart) Shirk, survives.
Born in Churchtown, he was the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Horning) Shirk.
Elam was a Supervisor and Roadmaster for Caernarvon Twp. for 12 years and Roadmaster for East Earl Twp. for 15 years. After retiring, he worked for Daniel LeRoy Burkholder and Shady Maple.
He was a member of Churchtown United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: William H. Shirk (Mary), Narvon and Jean M. Shirk, NH; a son-in-law Paul Zeigler, New Cumberland; three grandchildren: Jason C. Weaver, Brazil; Josie Weaver, NH; and Beth Parkinson (Rick), TX; two great-grandchildren Cooper and Makena and three siblings: Leon Shirk (Shirley), East Earl, Harold Shirk, Morgantown, Anna Mae Wenrich (Allen), Morgantown.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Zeigler on February 6, 2015, two brothers Earl and Eugene Shirk and three sisters, Betty Tshudy, Arlene Rathman, Barbara Beam.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Churchtown United Methodist Church, 2170 Main St., Narvon with Rev. Dr. James Bamberger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until the service begins. Kindly omit flowers. If desired, memorials may be sent to Hospice & Community Care, P. O.
