Eli M. Horst

Eli M. Horst, 98, of Lancaster County, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Fairmount Home, Ephrata. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie H. Horst.

Born in East Earl Township, he was the son of the late Eli Z. and Lydia (Musser) Horst. Eli was a farmer of cattle, poultry, and tobacco. He also worked for Bareville Burial Vault Company for 16 years. Eli enjoyed caning chairs as a hobby. He was a member of the Springville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

Surviving Eli is a son, Eli M. Horst, Jr., husband of Jennie (Eberly), of Denver, PA; 5 daughters: Vera Martin, wife of Elvin, of Ephrata, Minerva Brubaker, wife of Abram, of New Holland, Eleanor Martin of Middlebury, IN, Anna Mary Weaver, wife of Enos, Jr., of New Holland, and Erla Horst of Ephrata; a sister, Lucy Oberholter, wife of David; 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his daughter Verna Mae Horst, his son-in-law Lloyd M. Weaver, six brothers, Samuel, Isaac, Adam, Jacob, Enos, and Paul, and a sister, Anna High.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19 at 2:00 PM at Fairmount Home’s Wheatridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, PA 17522. Interment will be held at Weaverland Frame Mennonite Cemetery in East Earl. Viewing will take place from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Fairmount Home Wheatridge Chapel and from 1-2PM on Thursday prior to services. Please kindly omit flowers.
