Elizabeth M. Martin

Elizabeth M. Martin, 86, of 532 Reidenbach Rd., New Holland, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Jonas M. Martin who survives.

Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Martin) Horst.

She was a homemaker and a member of the New Holland Old Order Mennonite Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by nine children: Emma widow of Edwin Rissler, New Enterprise; Anna Mae married to Ammon Shirk, Ephrata; Eva married to Amos Reiff, Shippensburg; Luke married to Etta (Nolt) Martin, Ephrata; James married to Marion (Shirk) Martin, Greenwich, OH; Titus married to Mary (Sensenig) Martin, New Holland; Raymond married to Mary (Burkholder) Martin, TN; Harvey married to Ellen (Zimmerman) Martin, WI and Ella, at home; 50 grandchildren; 101 great grandchildren; two sisters: Anna Reiff, Manheim and Frances married to Amos L. Martin, Terre Hill and a sister-in-law, Anna Horst.

She was preceded in death by two daughters: Martha (Martin) Shirk and Betty Martin and six siblings: Walter Horst, Ervin Horst, Eli Horst, Mary Horst, Milton Horst, and Vera (Horst) Hoover.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 9 a.m. at her late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at New Holland Mennonite Church. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge arrangements.
