Elizabeth L. Stockton (Betty), 88, of The Woodlands, TX, formerly of New Holland, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Memorial Hermann hospital in The Woodlands, TX. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward O. and Kathryn (Volandt) Crap. Her husband, Richard K. Stockton, died April 5, 1972. Betty worked for 29 years, retiring in 1986, as the Physical Education teacher for the Manheim Twp. School District. From 1951-1953, she taught Physical Education at New Holland High School. She graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 1944 where she earned her bachelor’s degree. In 1948, she graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with a master’s degree. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the National Education Association, the former Business and Professional Woman’s Association of New Holland, and the New Holland American Legion Auxiliary. Betty, along with her husband Richard (Bud), were two of the founders of the Garden Spot Midget Athletic Association, managed the New Holland Community swimming program, and built and managed the Scuby Run sports camp south of New Holland. Betty is survived by her son, Richard K. Stockton, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Spring, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jarad R Stockton and wife Winnie of Austin, TX, Kristopher G. Stockton and wife Lisa of Dallas, TX, and Shannon E. Stockton of Spring, TX. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Whitney M. Stockton of Dallas, TX. Mommoms, we will miss you. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8 at 11 am at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, with the Reverend Barbara Caruana officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service.
