Elsie Heather Garrett

Elsie Heather Garrett, 67, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at her home after a five year battle with cancer.

Born in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Marie (Letkeman) Dyck. She was married 41 years on July 15 to John W. Garrett.

In early adulthood she taught elementary school. She loved children. She also spent 14 months in Europe with the Christian group, Youth with a Mission. It was while in Europe that she met her future husband. Throughout her life she loved taking care of her family.

Her interests included art, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and going for long walks. She was enthusiastic about organic foods and natural remedies which caused many interesting confrontations with her doctors. She was always pressing to know more about spiritual matters and world events. She wanted the truth about what was going on behind the scenes. Now she is at rest with God, the source of all truth.

She will be sorely missed by her husband and son, siblings, extended family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Michael; a brother, Waldo; and six sisters, Ruth, Norma, Rosella, Joy, Loretta, and Irene.

Preceding her in death is a son, Jeffrey Paul; and her sister Mary; and her identical twin, Esther.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 6 at 3 pm at the Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Road, Lancaster with the Reverend Carl S. McGarvey officiating.
