Elsie E. Shelley, 99, of New Holland passed into eternal life on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Edith and Tony Folker, where she had resided for the past 18 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Shelley in 1995.


Born in Leacock Twp., she was the daughter of the late Henry D. and Katie (Hershey) Eshleman.


Elsie was a homemaker and had also worked in the cafeteria at Pequea Valley High School and then Leacock Elementary School, retiring after 23 years.


She was a member of Hershey Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years and was involved with the sewing circle. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and crocheting.


Surviving are four children: Theodore E.(Nancy) Shelley, Montoursville; Janice K. (Stew) Pomraning, Lancaster, Joyce S. Chance, Cochranville, and Edith M. (Tony) Folker, New Holland; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by four brothers: Harold, Clair, Charles, and Marlin Eshleman and a sister, Annis Denlinger.


Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Mary 16 at 11 a.m. at Hershey Mennonite Church, 401 Hershey Church Rd., Kinzers with Pastor Matt Krebs officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m. The Beck Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
