Emma Sensenig Ranck, 91, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday evening, January 16, 2012, at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata. Born in the Weaverland Valley, she was the daughter of the late Martin S. and Martha (Sensenig) Zeiset. She was the widow of Paul Ranck who passed away Sept. 8, 1984. Emma worked at Lancaster Laboratories for 18 years. Before that, she worked in the chick hatchery business and farmed with her husband Paul. She provided loving care for her husband Paul for several years while he was ill with Alzheimer's. Emma enjoyed crocheting afghans for her grandchildren. She also crocheted and donated hundreds of lap afghans for Philhaven Hospital. She was a faithful lifetime member of Weaverland Mennonite Church and enjoyed her many friendships and fellowship of the church. She was blessed by the Secret Sister program at Church and kept a log of each of her Secret Sisters for 22 years. For many years she loved to attend the Widows’ Breakfast at Yoder’s Restaurant. She enjoyed conversation and was a good listener. Surviving are her son, Paul Eugene, husband of Pamela (Hmel) Ranck of Lancaster; a daughter Janet Elene, wife of Donald L. Hess of Leola; 6 grandchildren, Paul E., Douglas S., and Elizabeth A. Ranck, and Randall L. Hess, Rodney S., husband of Laura (Vignati) Hess, and Colleen J. (Hess) wife of Michael Funk; 2 great grandchildren; and a brother, Abram, husband of Sarah (Martin) Zeiset of Chestertown, MD. In addition to her husband Paul, she was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Good. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 2 pm at Weaverland Mennonite Church, 210 Weaverland Valley Road, East Earl with the Bishop J. Kenneth Martin, the Reverend Brian Martin and the Reverend Leon Hurst officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Saturday, at the Church, from 1-2 pm.
