Erla G. Wise

Erla G. Wise, 83, formerly of Bowmansville, died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Her husband, J. Roy Wise, preceded her in death in 2014.


Born in Bowmansville, she was the daughter of the late Walter S. and Emma (Good) Groff.

Erla graduated from Mohnton High School. She had worked at the former New Holland Farmers Bank and was a homemaker.


She was a member of Pine Grove Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, on the Hospitality Committee, and church treasurer. An avid Phillies fan, she was a former member of the John Hepler Eastern Star, Reading and the Rajah Shriners Caravaners.


Surviving are three children: Brian S. married to Nancy (Martino) Wise, Denver; Colleen M. married to Matthew Mercadante, Reading; Grant H. Wise, Denver; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister Elmira Good, Bowmansville.


Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Pine Grove Church, 1194 Reading Rd., Bowmansville with Pastor Jonathan Yoder officiating. Interment will be private in Bowmansville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
