Esther H. Martin

Esther H. Martin, 79, of East Earl, died unexpectedly on April 16, 2015 at Hershey Medical Center.

Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Alta (Zimmerman) Horst. Her husband, Weaver W. Martin, died Sept. 4, 2007.

Esther was a homemaker and a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church. She enjoyed quilting and flower gardening.

Surviving are four daughters, Lou Ann, married to Aaron Martin of East Earl, Edna, married to Mervin Fox of Terre Hill, Linda Hurst of New Holland, and Elaine Weaver of New Holland; two sons, Leon, married to Roxanne (Sauder) Martin of Ephrata, and Lonnie, married to Karen (Martin) Martin of East Earl; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; five sisters, Ruth, married to Ivan Zimmerman of East Earl, Martha, married to Adin Martin of Mt. Joy, Elizabeth, married to Raymond Zimmerman of Denver, Vera, married to Leroy Reiff of Tipton, and Edna, married to Harry Leinbach of Barnett, MO; and a brother, Milton, married to Lydia (Weaver) Horst of East Earl.

Preceding her in death is a grandson, Ralph Fox; three brothers, John, Luke, and Christ Horst; and a sister, Mabel Zeiset.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at 10 AM at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata with the Bishop Nelson Bowman, Dave Sensenig, J. Martin Hostetter, and Harry Leinbach officiating. Interment will be in the Lichty’s Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Martindale Mennonite Church on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 9-10 AM.
