Esther A. Horning

Esther A. Horning, 96, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Garden Spot Village. Her husband, Raymond G. Horning, preceded her in death in 2005.


Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Edwin H. and Barbara (Sauder) Martin.


Esther was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, needlework, and sewing. She was well known for her hospitality to many nieces, nephews, church friends and missionaries.


She was a charter member of Christian Fellowship Church and was an encourager to others in the church.


Surviving are two children: Donald M. married to Carol (Groff) Horning, New Holland and Janet M. married to Reuben Z. Zeiset, Narvon, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


Preceding her in death are four siblings: Harvey Martin, Clarence Martin, Charles Martin, and Clara M. Martin.


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2104 at 4 p.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel with Pastor David Horst and Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Wednesday from 3 – 4 p.m. Private burial will be in Christian Fellowship Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. If desired, memorials may be sent to Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 or to Hospice & Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
