Esther R. Martin, 87, of 6058 Wertztown Road, Narvon, PA, passed away on April 11, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of Lloyd E. Martin for 63 years. They were married on Sept. 3, 1949.
She was a member of Hahnstown United Zion Church and was currently attending Cedar Lane Chapel.
A lifelong resident of Lancaster County, she was formerly employed by Van Husen Shirt Factory, Ephrata and Martindale Garment, Reamstown Garment and Denver Upholstery, Denver.
Esther was a seamstress all her life and sewed and crocheted for family and friends. She also sewed for sewing circles and crocheted for fun.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Velma Jean married to Leon Hess, East Earl, June Lucille married to Thomas Hoffman, Ephrata, and Martha Sue Martin, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Emma Martin, Ephrata, Anna Mae Wise, New Holland, and Kathryn Summers, TN, and a brother Clarence Good, NY.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Susie Hilton and Viola Getz, two brothers, Raymond and Paul Good, a grandson Craig L. Hess and a daughter Erma Ruth Martin.
Services will be held on Monday, April 15 at 10 a.m. at Hahnstown United Zion Church, corner of Glenwood Dr. and Frysville Rd., Ephrata. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., P. O. Box 31, Terre Hill, PA 17581 on Sunday from 6 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. Kindly omit flowers. Donations may be made to the Funeral Home, address above, to help pay for funeral expenses.
