Esther Weaver Shirk

Esther W. Shirk, 79, of Martindale, passed away at home on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Born in W. Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Martin S. and Esther B. Weaver Shirk.

Esther was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. She had been employed by Casual Living Unlimited in New Holland for many years.

Surviving is a brother, Eli W. husband of Anna Shirk of Mifflinburg; two sisters, Mary W. Leid of Martindale, and Martha wife of J. David Martin of Shippensburg; two sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth Shirk and Arlene Shirk; and 43 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Susie Shirk, Edna Martin and Ruth Shirk and by brothers, Edwin and Clarence Shirk.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 21, at 9:30 a.m. at Martindale (Frame) Mennonite Church with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the home of Mark Leid, 1126 Martindale Rd., Ephrata on Wednesday from 2- 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
