Esther M. Zimmerman

Esther M. Zimmerman, 71, of 95 California Rd., Narvon, died Monday, July 8 at Ephrata Community Hospital. Her husband, Elam H. Zimmerman, survives. They would have observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 12.

Born in Caernarvon Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Florence (Martin) Shirk.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 11 children: Alta, Narvon; Anna Mae married to Paul Zimmerman, Elkton, KY; Harvey married to Anita (Zimmerman) Zimmerman, Pembroke, KY; Lucy married to Phares Shirk, Pembroke, KY; Erma married to Lawrence Zimmerman, Elkton, KY; Aaron married to Elva (Zimmerman) Zimmerman, Pembroke, KY; Etta married to Christian Zimmerman, Dundee, NY; Esther, Narvon; Ruth married to Jason Zimmerman, Pembroke, KY; John Ivan married to Suetta (Horning) Zimmerman, Narvon; Verna married to Earl Ray Nolt, Dundee, NY; 56 grandchildren and one great grandson; and seven siblings: Paul M. married to Esther (Nolt) Shirk, Narvon; Ivan M. married to Anna (Nolt) Shirk, New Holland; Martin M. married to Eva (Nolt) Shirk, Narvon; Annetta M. married to Lloyd Zimmerman, New Holland; Ida married to Walter Hurst, Morgantown; Harvey married to Alma (Weaver) Shirk, Narvon; and Amanda Shirk, Narvon.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 12 at 9 a.m. at her late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Churchtown Mennonite Church with the home ministry officiating. A viewing will be held at her late home on Thursday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funeral, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
