Eugene H. Fox

Eugene H. Fox, 73, of Martindale, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. His wife, Violet F. (Styer) Fox, survives.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Clarence and Sally (Horning) Fox.

Eugene was the co-owner of The Furniture House for many years.

He had attended the former Bethany E. C. Church. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Echo Valley Hunting Club in Lycoming County. In his younger years, he was well-known for his involvement with fast pitch softball in the area. He had also enjoyed golfing with friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Brian married to Karen Fox, Leola; Travis married to Lisa Fox, Leola; Stacy E. married to Wendy Fox, New Holland; Tracy married to Robert Hostetter, Denver; Derrick married to Sonya Fox, Martindale; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Willis Fox, Erma Garman, and Marlin Fox.

He was preceded in death by a brother Lloyd Fox and a sister Grace Burkholder.

A service for family and close friends will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor David Sensenig officiating. Interment will be in Martindale Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9 – 11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
