Eva M. Brooks

Eva M. Brooks, 84, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 7, 2017.

She was the wife of the late John E. Brooks, Sr., who died in 1985. Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late L. Lloyd and Eva Haas Ruoss.

Eva was a graduate of the Terre Hill School and a longtime member of St. John’s Center UCC in East Earl. She was a member of the Ephrata Farm Women and enjoyed cooking. Eva was a LPN and graduated from the former St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She had owned the former Brooks Convalescent Home in Bird-In-Hand for many years and later in life was employed at Brethren Village.

Surviving is a son, John E., Jr. husband of Sherry Groff Brooks of N. Charleston, SC; a daughter, Eva. M wife of David Leatherman of Hanover; four grandchildren, Amy Brooks-Costello wife of Kylie, Mindy Diehl wife of Daniel, Kimberly Hall wife of Keith, and Kyle Leatherman; a great grandchild, Darrin Diehl; and a brother, Dr. L. Lloyd husband of Joy Ruoss of Marriotsville, MD. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Leatherman.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 14, at 2:30 P.M. at the Eckenroth Funeral Home, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill, PA with the Rev. R. Kenneth Evitts officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Center Union Cemetery, East Earl, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. John’s Center UCC, 432 Reading Road, East Earl, PA 17519.
