Evelyn E. Gordon

Evelyn E. Gordon, 88, formerly of Valley View Dr., Narvon, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Ephrata Community Hospital. Her husband, Joseph E. Gordon preceded her in death on January 20.

Born in Joanna, Berks Co., she was the daughter of the late Robert Luther and Jennie (Sparr) Fry.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of the Churchtown United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was on the church council, and helped with Bible school. As a member of the Churchtown Fire Co. Auxiliary, she volunteered her time to help with the Turkey Suppers. She had also served on the Caernarvon Twp. Election Board and the Caernarvon Memorial Association, decorating Main St. for Memorial Day and as flower coordinator for the parade.

Surviving are five children: Janet L. Shepler of East Petersburg, and sons Chester E. of Terre Hill, Galen E. of Narvon, Gary D. of Shillington, and Glenn I. Gordon of New Holland, eight grandchildren: Joseph, Amy, Kayla, Ashley, Kyle, Karley, Jacob and Olivia Gordon, and a sister Shirley Bowlen of Ephrata.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 10 a.m. at the Churchtown United Methodist Church, 2170 Main St., Narvon, PA 17555 with The Rev. Dr. James Bamberger, Rev. Robert Pope, and Rev. E. Earl Trauger officiating. Interment in the United Methodist Cemetery of Churchtown. A viewing will be held at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Churchtown U. M. Church, address above or Harmony U. M.
