Faye Marie
McCarty
Sep 22, 1941 — Jul 15, 2026
Lancaster
Faye Marie McCarty, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. In passing, Faye is reunited with her beloved husband I. Richard McCarty who passed away in May 1999.
Faye was born on September 22, 1941 in Quarryville, PA to her late parents, Simon Snyder Rineer and Mildred Ann (Boyd) Rineer. She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. For many years, she was a familiar, welcoming face to countless students in the Eastern Lancaster County School District, where she worked in the cafeterias at both the High School and Blue Ball Elementary. Her care for the community extended into her faith life at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served faithfully as a dedicated member of the church council.
Family was the absolute center of her world. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she was always willing to do absolutely anything for her loved ones to ensure their happiness and well-being. Her love was so immense and welcoming that she quickly became everyone's Mom-Mom, extending her grandmotherly warmth to everyone who crossed her path. She was also a beloved Aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews, who held a very special place in her heart. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and incredible food. An exceptional cook and baker, she poured her heart into preparing family meals, most notably her famous chicken pot pie and her unforgettable homemade pumpkin and apple pies.
Her favorite moments were spent creating lasting memories with her family, whether gathering for annual summer picnics, celebrating holiday traditions at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, or taking family vacations to the peace of the mountains and the shores of the beach. She also deeply treasured her social time, frequently enjoying lunch and sharing laughter with her dear, lifelong friends.
Her legacy of kindness, community service, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Faye is survived by her children, Donald (Butch) Phipps and his wife Joanne, of Millerton, PA, Melody Miller and her husband Charles, of Lancaster, PA, Tim McCarty and his wife Toni, of New Holland, PA, and son-in-law John Hostetter, of Ephrata, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jedidiah Phipps and his wife Monica, Kristopher Miller and his wife Stephanie, Sara Luongo and her husband Andrew, Alicia Culton and her husband Danny, Melissa Beiler, Jonathan Beiler and his partner Brittany Copenhaver, Jack McCarty, Grace McCarty, William Thomas, and Christopher Thomas and nine great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her two brothers, Joe Rineer, of Mt. Joy and Bob Rineer and his wife Donna, of Ephrata. In addition to her parents and husband, Faye is preceded in death by daughter Terry Hostetter and grandson Joshua Phipps.
