Fred E. Styer

Fred E. Styer, 86, of Terre Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Flickinger) Styer, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

Born in Caernarvon Township, he was a son of the late John A. and Lizzie M. (Stauffer) Styer.

Fred worked for almost 40 years as a carpenter for the Horst Group of New Holland. He was also a volunteer of the Fivepointville Ambulance Service for many, many years. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking, visiting the mountains and his cabin, canoeing, and spending time with his loved ones.

Surviving Fred in addition to his wife are five children: Linette Metzger, wife of David, of East Earl, Michael Styer, husband of Pat, of Yorba Linda, CA, Sharon Yelk, wife of Bill, of Gordonville, Jane Styer-Acevedo, wife of Julio, of Upper Darby, and Jean Kostelansky, wife of David, of Chicago, IL; 6 grandchildren: Heather Martin, wife of Nik, Heidi Sadowski, wife of Kevin, Dana Styer, Westleigh Styer, Eric Yelk, husband of Amie, Miguel Acevedo, and David Kostelansky; and 5 great-grandchildren: Thea and Walker Martin and Tristin, Skye, and Scarlett Sandowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his granddaughter, Beverly.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s U.C.C., 432 Reading Road, East Earl PA 17519, with Pastor Brad Haws officiating. Interment will be in Center Union Cemetery, East Earl. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 AM. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
