G. Elizabeth Wolf Weber

Elizabeth Weber, 100, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, died on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Born in Geigertown, Berks County, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Elmer Wolf and Mildred D. Wolf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Weber, and her sister, Jean Berg.


As a former member of the United Methodist church in New Holland, she served as the Junior Department Coordinator, Youth Coordinator, Sunday school class teacher, and member of the choir. Elizabeth held offices in the church and served on committees of the Eastern Conference of the former E.U.B. church.


While living in Lancaster for 21 years, she taught Sunday school at Covenant United Methodist Church. She and her husband were volunteers for Meals on Wheels and served on the Steering Committee of that organization.


Elizabeth was a graduate of Birdsboro High School and the McCann School of Business in Reading. She was a life member of Alpha Iota Sorority and held various offices in the Reading Chapter. Later, she served a term as State President. She was speaker and soloist at the Convention in Detroit.


She worked as a bookkeeper in the office of Cassel’s Stores in Reading for eight years and sang with the Reading Choral Society.


She travelled extensively with her husband – driving through all 50 states, visiting 40 countries and attending seven Olympic Games. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and writing poems, two of which were published.


Survivors include: daughter Linda, wife of William Hissner of Lebanon; son Lee of Philadelphia; daughter Lucy Mannix, wife of Paul Dell of Lancaster; granddaughter Paula, wife of Dana Oakes of Boston; granddaughter Elizabeth Rotella of Lititz; and great grandsons Thomas and Daniel Rotella.


Elizabeth donated her body to the Humanity Gifts Registry of Pennsylvania for the furtherance of medical science.


A memorial service will be held in Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA 17557 on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:00 am. Memorial gifts may be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
